About Me

My photo

I have been happily married for 40 years. My husband retired from GM after working there for 36 years. He is now working part-time at a local GM dealership as a shuttle driver. It is the perfect job for him. He doesn't mind driving and for sure he doesn't mind talking. I have enjoyed rubber stamping for about 10 years. I can tell you that I do not do scrapbooking just cardmaking. I love it. I retired from the University of Michigan in 1997 after working there for 30 years. Most of the time I worked in the Mathematics Dept. At this point, you can say I wonder how she liked it. My mom told me if I couldn't say something nice to someone don't say anything at all. I will comply and not go into a huge dissertation about how awful my bosses were during that period. I did like my office mate, Dee Hudock. We worked very well together. I can also say for the most part I liked the professors. I have two grown children and 3 grandchildren. I am totally addicted to FB and all the games I play there.

Will You Dance with Me?

READ THIS VERY SLOWLY....
IT'S PRETTY PROFOUND.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word 'refrigeration' mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched 'Jeopardy' on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, 'How about going to lunch in a half hour? She would gas up and stammer, 'I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain...' And my personal favorite: 'It's Monday.' She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet... We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of 'I'm going to,' 'I plan on,' and 'Someday, when things are settled down a bit.'

W hen anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Roller blades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord..

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-Decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now....go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to......not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Make sure you read this to the end; you will under stand why I sent this to you.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butter fly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask ' How are you?' Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, 'We'll do it tomorrow.' And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say 'Hi?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift.......Thrown away..... Life is not a race Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over..

It's National Friendship Week.. Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND. If it comes back to you, then you'll know you have a circle of friends.

To those I have sent this to.... I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do.

'Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance!

Done, Done (Almost)

I went back to the endodontist this morning and finished the root canal stuff. Now I have to call the dentist and set up an appt to have the tooth built up and a cap put on it. That means more hours in a chair. And more pain - I hate those shots.

I got my replacement phone and Kindle yesterday. I am back to everything working. I do have to get some more things done before I can read some more in my book. Card club is here on Sat. Friday is going to be spent cleaning. Dennis and Mark are still trying to clean up with wet stuff out of the basement. We still have not discovered where the odor is coming from when you open the front door. It smells like something died. I think something - (mouse, rat) died between the walls. Yuch!! I hope it goes away before Sat. I may have to explain it away. For sure I hope it goes away before summer when it is so hot!!

Saturday

We have had a miserable week at our house. First off 2 weeks ago I found that lump in my jaw 2 weeks ago. I first went to my dentist. He xrayed and couldn't find anything. The lump thing got bigger and the whole side of my face swelled. After a trip to urgent care I found out I had an abscessed tooth. I went back to the dentist last Monday. All he did was look at me and send me to the endodontist. I went to him on Wed. He re-did the root canal. The crown came off and can't be used again. It is gold. Maybe it is worth $2. I have a big hole in my mouth. The swelling is still there in spite of the fact that I am on 2 antibiotics. I go back this week for the endo guy to finish. Maybe he won't be able to because of the abscess is still there. It does make me wonder if it is something else. I am putting heat on it to try to draw it out. Not working!!

Dennis was back to his surgeon this week. His lower leg and ankle are really hurting. The dr said it may be a stress fracture. He only has this week to work and he is done. He loved his job but could not handle it any longer physically. I hope everything works out for us financially with him not working.

I need to get some cards done and think about a big project I have for April 3. I just found out that my cell phone got washed. ugh

Friday

Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions for me. Mark's birthday was yesterday. He finally made an appt. with a lawyer about a divorce. He needed $750 for a retainer. He needed $250 for the filing fee. We got the money out of savings and gave it to him. We told him it was a loan. After a 3 year separation and fighting it is definitely time to move on. I am praying that he does not weaken his resolve to go thru with this. I just hope that he and Katie can get along enough so that Tyler is not used as a pawn in their games. It would have been nice to have a daughter-in-law that was respectful and a part of the family but that didn't happen. There was never a family relationship with her and Tyler. The girls don't even know their cousin Tyler. We have not ever been able to have Tyler for a few hours without her. We don't have a relationship with him either. He will be 3 on March 23.

Today is my granddaughter, Hannah's, birthday. She is 9 years old. She wanted a "fancy dinner" with her friends. We may not see her until Tues when I am watching the girls b/c they do not have school. I did make a card and sent it so hopefully she will get it tomorrow.

I have got 8 more cards to make for March. I would like to get Easter cards made. I also may be doing something for church for a silent auction. I need to get busy.

The End

I have one more trip to make to the eye dr. this afternoon and I will be done with the study I have been involved in. Now I wonder -- how long will I have to wait for the check.

I have developed a sore jaw over this last week-end. I have to go to the dentist on Thurs to see if he can tell what is going on. I hope it isn't bad. I hate going to the dentist.

I have 4 cards to get done today. I am going to get hustling on that soon. I did get a couple done over the week-end.

Now I am off to get busy.
